How to wash and dry hair

How to wash and dry hair

Washing and drying hair are imperative in keeping your hair long, shiny and lush. Since this is an activity that varies wildly depending on hair length, type and products available it's important to make sure you pick out the right routine for you.

Washing

Start off my thoroughly wetting your hair with warm water-do not use boiling or extremely hot water as this will damage the hair and lead to thinning.
Use your favourite shampoo and if you have oiled your hair beforehand, concentrate on your scalp.

Rather than putting all your hair on the top of your head and rubbing it around to create a lather like they show in the movies, gently massage your hair all the way down. Put your hair in between your palms and rub gently. This will reduce tangles, knots and breakage when it comes to brushing your hair.

Once you are satisfied that your hair is  squeaky clean, use warm water to rinse away the soapy suds. Pour the water over the scalp and let it run down the rest of your hair gently sqeezing out any remaining lather.
Next-condition
It’s very important to always condition your hair using your favourite conditioner, as this will calm down any frizz and make your life much easier when it comes to brushing. Regardless of whether your favourite conditioner is a leave in or not, it’s best to leave in your conditioner for a few minutes in your hair to make sure that all of it is soaked up into the hair cuticles. If your have really long hair you can tie up your hair during this period if you wish.
When washing out the conditioner use cold water instead of warm. The cuticles will close up much like the pores on the skin to prevent dirt and debris from entering and causing damage. If pouring cold water over yourself is uncomfortable then you can grab a bucket or go to the basin and fill it with cold water and wash just your hair in that. It does not matter how you wash the conditioner out so long as you use cold water.

Drying

When your hair is wet it is extremely vulnerable to damage so you have to be careful to minimize any activities that are bad for your hair at this point.
Part your hair into four sections. Firstly draw a line from one ear to the other and part the section, and then make another line down the midpoint so that you have four equal sections. Use a wide tooth comb to brush each of the four sections. It’s best to air dry your hair-meaning leave it out to dry on its own. If you have long hair you can tie up your hair into a simple bun to keep it out of the way but periodically leave it out so that it all can dry out.
Don’t use any blow dryers or hair dryers and if you can abstain from using any hair products/gels or sprays,  If you have extremely frizzy hair and need to use a frizz serum then that’s fine but try not to use any unnecessary products.

Once your hair is dry-style as you will J

Hair nutrition

Have you ever wondered how you can grow your hair longer and faster, but not just long hair, healthy, shiny and luscious hair? Keep reading to find out how J

Although your hair is outside of your body it also has an internal structure. At the base of your hair, the follicle, there are tiny cells running around trying to make sure your hair grows in the best condition it can. So in order to help out these cells it’s very important to make sure they have the best nutrition.

Almond oil
For centuries in India, almonds have been harvested and crushed to produce oils which have then been used for cooking, healing and nourishment for hair.

Nowadays it's not so difficult to go and find various lotions and potions containing almond oil. However also keep in mind that these contain preservatives, perfumes and other chemicals. That is why it is sometimes to best to buy almond oil that is primarily for cooking, as this will contain the least amount of chemicals. Almond oil for cooking is safe to use in the hair as it still contains it's vital amino acids.

How to apply
The almond oil should be heated first, hot oils are easier to apply and diffuse through the follicles faster and more efficiently. Be careful not to make the oil so hot that it ends up scalding you.

The oil should then be applied with the fingers all throughout the scalp.

Going from the front to the back in straight lines will help reduce knots in your hair and will ensure you cover all of your scalp.

Make sure you part your hair and get right into the scalp.

Leave this in for at least 2 hours and all day or night if you can.

Wash out with your regular shampoo and don't forget to condition, it can sometimes be helpful to shampoo twice to make sure you get out the smell and don't end up with greasy hair.

Do this routine at least  twice a month or once a week if you can.
Visit this video to see how it's done!

Other oils
Sweet almond oil can also be used. Coconut oil is also considered an alternative; however it can be more smelly and hard to wash out. Olive oil is sometimes thought to be better, however it works just as well and the only downfall is that it is far more expensive.
